Shockwave therapy

Shock waves are pulses of acoustic energy applied to specific areas of the body to stimulate healing, relieve pain, and improve the function of musculoskeletal and soft tissue structures.

What are shock waves?

They are a therapeutic technique based on the application of high-pressure mechanical waves similar to those used to break up kidney stones. These impacts cause mechanical and biological effects.

State-of-the-art, fast, safe and non-invasive whose main aim is to resolve musculoskeletal processes.

What are shock waves used for?

Shockwave Therapy is used as a treatment for multiple pathologies, in many cases avoiding surgery.

There is the possibility of applying this new technology without surgery, to treat:

  • Epicondylitis (tennis elbow)
  • Medial epicondylitis (golfer’s elbow)
  • Acute tendinopathies of the Achilles and patellar tendon
  • Calcifications in tendons
  • Chronic tendinitis, achilles, patella, among others
  • Plantar fasciitis or heel spur
  • Subacromial syndrome
  • Osteonecrosis (avascular necrosisof hip, knee or foot)
  • Delays in fracture healing (hypertrophic pseudoarthrosis)

Advantages of shock waves

  • Quick
  • Convenient
  • Safe
  • Non invasive
  • No side effects
  • Clinical results of healing around 80%

How many sessions are necessary?

An average of 5 sessions is usually needed to obtain maximum improvement or for the pain to disappear. If after the fifth session there is no improvement, it is considered that shock waves will not be effective for this pathology.

Each session takes place with an interval of 5 to 7 days.

Normally the pain disappears progressively depending on the age and magnitude of the injury.
